OIS has a Health Care Center (HCC) with one trained nurse, a Residential Medical Officer and a Consulting Medical Officer. Two of the medical staff live within the HCC. We have certain basic medical equipment to handle emergencies. The school has informally tied up with specialist medical practitioners and local hospitals so that specialised medical care and attention could be obtained at short notice. We intend to have professional tie-up with some of the specialists for a weekly visit by them to our school. The School has an Ambulance to rush children or staff members to the specialist in a city hospital in an emergency. We have a ward for sick boys to be housed. The girls live with the staff nurse when they need to be hospitalized. Facilities are provided in HCC. Food as per recommendation of the medical advice is made available to the sick children. A medical record booklet documents the treatment extended by the doctor to the staff and children. In case a child is sick for an extended period of time or any exigent medical situation arises the concerned parent is contacted by the school and assistance is sought. If it is a better option the parents are advised to take the child home for the requisite medical tests to be carried out under parental care. If the child being at home is better for convalescence the school suggests the same to parents. The medical costs incurred by the school on the child are charged to the imprest account of the child. We keep the parents informed fully as necessary.
