The Kalyani Charitable Trust was established in the year 2003 and the dream and vision can be defined simplistically by using the phrase “KG to PG.” Sapkal Knowledge Hub was the educational wing of the trust.
When Mr. Ravindra Sapkal was denied admission in the primary section of an English medium school many years back in his native town of Buldana, the seed of starting an international, English medium school, which will welcome students from all backgrounds, was sown. Many years later, in 2006, this dream fructified as Orchid International School in Nasik. To prepare for this, the Kalyani Charitable Trust was established in the year 2003 and he stated his dream and vision simplistically by using the phrase “KG to PG.” Sapkal Knowledge Hub was the educational wing of the trust.
It was on barren hills of the ancient Anjaneri village that trees were planted before civil construction began so that a green and natural ambience was available for children to grow up in. With minimum disturbance to the landscape of the place, an aesthetically modern infrastructure was created under the guidance of Late Gulab Ramchandani, ex-Headmaster of The Doon School.
His aspiration to contribute significantly to society led him to establish a school for the new generation in Nashik. The grandeur of OIS and its inception is due to him.
Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, ex-House Master of The Doon School, and a scholar of English and Sanskrit, was invited to head the school as its first and founding Principal. Being a person of strong values and commitment to school education, the right foundation was laid by him. The next Principal, Mrs. Shanta Tendulkar, who is a noted educationist of Maharashtra, took charge in 2007 and established the initial working methods for the school in both its management and the educational processes. She established the basics of the school in the first couple of years.
In the meanwhile, the need for a person with experience in residential schools was felt and Dr. Sundar Kumar Gandikota, who worked in respected schools like Rishi Valley School and Chinmaya International Residential School, was invited to be the Principal from 2009. The school went through an intensive phase of overall development for a period of five years and the management and educational processes of the school were improved and the school became one of the top ten most respected residential, coeducational schools of the country as per the CFORE-Education World surveys of 2012-2013.
Dr. Sundar Gandikota returned as the Director cum Principal of the school in May 2017 after a brief interregnum of three years.
